From the celebration on the field, from the tears of joy shed in Manila, to Rome’s embrace of the World Champion boys.

At 8:05 p.m. this evening, the men’s national team, led by Ferdinando De Giorgi, touched the ground of the runway at Rome’s Fiumicino “Leonardo Da Vinci” Airport and was applauded inside the airport and by the many media present in Terminal 3.

The first to go through the gate door and show the trophy conquered in the Philippines were the blue captain Simone Giannelli and CT De Giorgi; behind them all the other 13 heroes followed by the entire blue staff, federal president Giuseppe Manfredi, vice president Massimo Sala and general secretary Stefano Bellotti.

The Italian national team, which won its fifth men’s rainbow title, the second consecutive, has been invited by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella to the Quirinale on Wednesday, October 8, at 4 p.m. De Giorgi’s boys thus join Velasco’s girls, who were already previously invited after their victory at the World Championships in Thailand last September 7.
