Carlos Alcaraz unstoppable: he is also champion in Tokyo

Carlos Alcaraz also triumphs at the ’Tokyo ATP 500. The world number one rules Taylor Fritz, number two in the seeding and No. 5 in the ATP rankings, with a final score of 6-4 6-4 in the final of the ‘Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships’ in just over an hour and a half of play.

The first set is decided in the final stages: Fritz saves a break point in the third game, climbs from 0-40 in the fifth game, clears another break point in the seventh game but can do nothing in the ninth game when with a free serve he surrenders himself to Alcaraz who does not discount and closes the partial on serve (6-4).

With the momentum in his favor, Murciano snatches the serve from the American in the opening game of the second set and confirms the lead (2-0). Fritz tried to hang on in the score (1-2) but suffered another break that let Carlitos escape on 5-1. With a motto of pride, the American climbed back up to 4-5 but had to surrender to the Spaniard who closed on the first match point with yet another winning short ball.

With the success in the ‘Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships’ Alcaraz rises to 8 titles on the season after those won at the ’ATP 500 Rotterdam, Masters 1000 Monte Carlo, Masters 1000 Rome, Roland Garros, Queen’s ATP 500, Cincinnati Masters 1000 and the Us Open.
