Cagliari, Andrea Belotti undergo knee surgery

Surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee for Cagliari striker Andrea Belotti. The operation, the Rossoblù club assures, was perfectly successful. The player will begin the rehabilitation process in the coming days.
The surgery was performed by a team of specialists in the Villa Toniolo Nursing Home in Bologna. Gallo had been injured last Saturday during the first half of the night match against Inter Milan, falling badly before colliding with Nerazzurri goalkeeper Martinez.
Initially everything suggested a simple sprain. But then instrumental tests showed an ACL injury. Belotti will have to sit out at least six months. It is an injury that almost nips in the bud a promising return to A after his experience at Benfica: in the first two matches he had propitiated a goal against Parma and scored a brace against Lecce.
For Cagliari, which had bet on him after Piccoli’s departure, problems in attack ahead of Sunday’s match with Udinese. Luvumbo has recovered, but Gaetano also stopped today with a left thigh flexor problem: his presence against the Bianconeri is in doubt.
