Jannik Sinner is set to make his debut in the Shanghai Masters 1000, the last event of the Asian tour for the big names on the ATP major circuit. Here are the words of the world number 2.

“I&#8217m not the only one who changes. If you ask every player, everyone is changing something and trying to improve. Whatever we are trying to do, it is not about giant steps, but just fixing a couple of things, trying to improve as players, like everyone else is doing.”

“Some shots worked slightly better than in previous months, others can still be improved. But it is also normal, and I am looking forward to playing as many matches as possible in each tournament. This gives me a chance to try as many things as possible. So, we will see, but we are quite satisfied with the work we are doing.”

“It is great to be here again. It is a very special tournament, obviously the’last one we have in Asia. The conditions are definitely different than in Beijing, so I only have one training session to prepare, but we will see.”

“It will be a very, very difficult and demanding challenge, especially the first round (against German Daniel Altmaier, ed.). You never know what will happen, so we will see. But obviously I’m very happy to be back here and playing in front of the fans in Shanghai.”

Sinner begins his title defense against German Daniel Altmaier, with the Lexus ATP Head2Head series tied at’1-1. Altmaier triumphed in five sets in their last meeting at Roland Garros in 2023.
