A Friday to forget for Italian tennis at the Shanghai Masters 1000. After the defeats of Mattia Bellucci and Luca Nardi, overcome by Tomas Machac and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard respectively, came also the knockout of Flavio Cobolli, eliminated by Jaume Munar.

Bellucci, world number 69, surrendered in two sets to Machac (3-6 4-6), number 20 in the seeding and 23 in the rankings, after an hour and 49 minutes of play. The Czech needed only two surgical breaks, obtained in the eighth game of the first set and in the ninth game of the second partial, to file the case.

Nardi, No. 88 in the world rankings, also succumbed in two sets to Mpetshi Perricard, No. 32 in the seedings and No. 37 in the rankings, who prevailed with a final score of 6-3 7-6 after an hour and 40 minutes of play. Down by a set and a break, the Marche player managed to drag the match to the tie-break but here the Frenchman won by 7 points to 4.

Finally, Cobolli, number 22 in the seeding and ranking, was also eliminated by world number 40 Munar who defeated him in two sets (7-5 6-1) after an hour and 33 minutes of play. The Roman gave up the serve in the’last game of the first set before collapsing in the second partial.
