Verona beaten at the Bentegodi by Sassuolo

Sassuolo’s big blow at the Bentegodi, the Emiliani beat a willing Hellas and gloat in front of 21963 spectators including 281 visiting fans. It was a victory with a sweet taste for the Emiliani of former Grosso, bitter for Zanetti’s Scaligeri, still winless and already embroiled in the B zone.
For the record: in the stands watching the match was Paolo Vanoli, former coach of Torino. Standings: Sassuolo 9, Verona 3. Next round (7th day of the championship): Pisa-Verona (Saturday, Oct. 18, 3 p.m.), Lecce-Sassuolo (Saturday, Oct. 18, 3 p.m.).
First half. Verona immediately proactive: squeezes Sassuolo in its three-quarter but, as observed in previous rounds, nothing done. The clock ticks down, the Emilians take time from the Scaligeri, Montipò remains industrious. Unlike Muric, the host extreme is miraculous on Serdar’s conclusion from the limit. Corner: looks like Volpato’s hand foul, penalty? No: Var intervenes, the referee informs the stadium that it’s a foul on the goalkeeper.
We restart from 0-0. Hellas ahead: Orban from the limit, ball over the crossbar, then in a rebound (38′) comes close to 1-0. The Veronese try in every way, for Muric it’s candy. On the other side, Grosso’s boys, cautioned for protests, sniff the big blow that could materialize in the 45th minute: Laurientè, free kick from the edge slightly off-center on the left, Montipò deflects into a corner from which nothing springs.
Resume. Same film, nothing done until the 13th minute: Giovane tries to surprise Muric who responds present. As on the other hand Montipò, good and lucky to deflect into a corner: but Var intervenes, changing the decision of the referee who had awarded a penalty to Sassuolo for a foul by Nelsson: free kick from the edge, beats Pierini over the barrier.
In the 24th minute Serdar’s foul on Fadera, unquestionable penalty this time for Sassuolo: beats Pinamonti, central shot, Montipò rebounds, Pinamonti is quick to rebound into the net, Verona-Sassuolo 0-1. Zanetti tries them all: in goes Niasse and Sarr, finally Kastanos and Mosquera but the bench fails to compensate for Verona’s limitations. Hellas puts its heart into it, Muric rises to the top and lowers the portcullis on a couple of occasions. Six minutes of recovery, nothing changes: Verona-Sassuolo 0-1.
