Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini win a place in a major circuit doubles tournament final for the twelfth time overall: in fact, the two Azzurri have no particular problems in the semifinals of the Beijing tournament, where Hsieh Su-Wei and Jelena Ostapenko surrendered in two sets, after one’hour and nineteen minutes.

Only in the first set did the Azzurri’s opponents seem to be able to seriously contend for success: started immediately with a one break disadvantage, Errani and Paolini, however, made up for it right away, regaining and extending their lead in the middle part of the fraction, won by leaving four games to the pair formed by the Taiwanese and the Latvian.

The second set, on the other hand, was a monologue of the Bolognese veteran and the number 1 Italian in singles: not even crumbs were left for Hsieh and Ostapenko, who were swept away with a clear 6-0 in just thirty-two minutes. Erranie Paolini thus return to a final of a women’s doubles tournament for the first time since last June 22, when they were defeated on the grass of Berlin by Tereza Mihailova and Olivia Nicholls.

It will instead be the sixth final ever on concrete for the Italian pair: Errani and Paolini have so far had four wins (Monastir 2023, Linz and Beijing 2024, Qatar 2025) and one loss (Melbourne Summer Set 2025). The opportunity is there, then, for an encore in the Chinese capital: a reconfirmation that, if it comes, would match the Internazionali d’Italia, won in 2024 and 2025.
