Inter market: Yann Sommer at a crossroads, suggestive hypothesis

Yann Sommer is experiencing what could be his last season with Inter. The Nerazzurri club does not seem to have any intention of renewing his contract, but one of the scenarios under consideration for his possible stay involves accepting a role as second goalkeeper.
His farewell in the summer of 2026 is still given as likely. In this scenario, Noah Atubolu emerges as the ideal profile to focus on for the future. The 23-year-old Freiburg goalkeeper is showing off in the Bundesliga with solid performances that make him a credible option for the Nerazzurri goal.
According to the German press, the Nigerian-born footballer is already considered the number one candidate to pick up the legacy of Sommer, who played in the Bundesliga for a long time at Borussia Mönchengladbach and also had a much shorter stint at Bayern Munich.
It is not a foregone conclusion, however, that the Helvetic (37 to turn 37 on Dec. 17) will return to Germany: suggestive is the hypothesis corroborated by some recent rumors that he might go to end his career where he began, and that is in his homeland, between the posts of Basel.
