Woe for AC Milan as a result of the national team friendlies being played during the break in the championships and thus also in Serie A. On the Italian night between Friday and Saturday, Ecuador and the United States faced each other, a challenge also between the Rossoneri. And while Christian Pulisic, already not at his best due to a swollen ankle, was on the field for just 17 minutes, it was Pervis Estupiñán who had the worst of it.

The left-back in fact left the game before the first half was even over, creating more than one’apprehension in the Milan household. Curiously enough, the physical problem for Estupiñán is also similar in nature to that of Pulisic: the 27-year-old from Ecuador in fact stopped due to severe pain in his left ankle, which now needs further investigation. Over the weekend, in fact, examinations will be required to verify the’extent of the injury and the’possible period of absence from the field.

In addition to Milan, Ecuador is also waiting. Indeed, Estupiñán remains available for his national team, which is expected to play another friendly against Mexico this week. Clearly, the South American selection and the Rossoneri management will have to decide together how to move, with the defender who could even leave the training camp early to return to Italy early.

Accordingly, Milan is expected to play an important string of matches against Fiorentina, Pisa and Roma at the San Siro and against Atalanta in Bergamo, which are crucial to check the Scudetto ambitions of the group coached by Massimiliano Allegri. Already Estupiñán had to miss the Turin match against Juventus due to disqualification, and now his presence or absence on the field in the Rossoneri’s upcoming fixtures may weigh in no small measure.
