Jasmine Paolini, bad day on serve: ko in Wuhan

Jasmine Paolini’s run at the Wuhan WTA tournament ended in the semifinals. The Tuscan tennis player was outlasted in two sets 6-4, 6-3 by U.S. Coco Gauff, who qualified for the final of the Chinese tournament. The day after the stunning victory over Swiatek came a drastic drop in the Azzurra’s performance, especially in her serve performance, which penalized her for much of the match.
The world number 8 suffered three breaks in the first set, and four times in the second partial, in a match punctuated by the many errors of both tennis players.
Now Jasmine Paolini’s goal in the coming weeks will be to secure a place in the WTA Finals: she is currently eighth in the Race ahead of Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina.
Gauff instead flies to the finals, where she will face the winner of the challenge between Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula: Coco improved on her 2024 result, when she stopped in the semifinals of the Chinese tournament.
