Olimpia Milano on velvet at Masnago, Kastritis explains what Varese missed

Saturday’s was a decidedly negative night for Varese Basketball, back to earth after the outside success in Sassari: in front of the friendly crowd at the Masnago arena, the team coached by Giannis Kastritis lost 94-61 to Olimpia Milano, losing each of the four periods of the game and making just 9 putni in the last ten minutes.
A heavy knockout for the team’s coach today at home, who nevertheless tried to analyze the performance by going beyond the final result:“First of all, I would like to congratulate Milan for their excellent performance – he began -. They played a very solid game, in a serious manner, a game in which they respected first and foremost themselves and then also their opponents”.
“We knew we would face a very talented team and they proved it’added Kastritis. “They dominated in rebounding and never allowed us anything easy on offense, making their transitions easier. We could make many excuses for this game but we don’t want to use them. We have to go into the game always trying to be our best version, regardless of what happens around us and today we didn’t do that”.
Talking then about the attitude we need to have in the upcoming games, Kastritis said, “We have to believe in our process by trying to bring on the court what we do in practice during the week. Regardless of the fact that we played against a high-value team, I am convinced that we can get results but we have to try to apply ourselves better on the court especially on the defensive side, given also the number of easy baskets conceded to our opponents in these two games”.
“We have a group of very interesting and very good players but we have to raise the level of intensity. Once again I want to emphasize the beautiful atmosphere created by our fans who supported us until the end and of the game” then concluded the head coach of the Varese lineup.
