Valentin Vacherot, coach reveals backstory on Jannik Sinner

Benjamin Balleret, half-brother and coach of Valentin Vacherot, commented on the Monegasque’s incredible triumph at the Shanghai Masters 1000, which gained him a whopping 164 positions in the ATP rankings, jumping from No. 204 to No. 40.
“The feeling is unbelievable, so many players with long careers have not yet won an ATP title and to win one in this way is incredible – admitted Vacherot’s coach. “We knew he could play good tennis but everything that happened is unexpected, no one could believe it. But match after match the situation improved”.
.
He then revealed a backstory about Jannik Sinner who could have faced the Monegasque in the round of 16: “After the win against Machac we thought we would face Jannik Sinner. You think them: ‘Okay, good story. He plays against Sinner who maybe will destroy him'”.
“He played match after match and then he faced Djokovic and you’re happy because you faced Nole for once in your life. And in the end, even since he wasn’t 100 percent, you beat Djokovic too. It”s like a fairy tale and we all still feel like a fairy tale” Balleret concluded.
