Italy victorious over Israel and sure to at least play in the playoffs toward the 2026 World Cup, but despite the 3-0 win in Udine coach Gennaro Gattuso is not satisfied. While praising the test given on the field by his team, in fact, the Azzurri’s technical commissioner is aware that much of the work still needs to be done.

“We all remember very well the game a month ago, so tonight we were really good – Gattuso told Rai after the game.

&#8220The boys covered the field very well, and I want to congratulate them. On the field I saw an Italy with great spirit, I am especially pleased not to have taken a goal. We had everything to lose, but we played the game we had to play”.

While his Italy side enchants with 16 goals to its credit in just four games, Gattuso identified a few areas on which he expects his group to grow. “We must be able to suffer – was the coach’s warning -. There are few teams in the world that can command matches. And we certainly have quality when the ball possession is ours, but we must always work with the same intensity and be more compact”.

Looking ahead to the next, decisive engagements, then, a bogeyman resists. “We must hope not to lose more players. In November we will have to play two serious games, perhaps we will call in someone who has had little space so far. Fundamental will be to create an’Italy that is well both on and off the field” concluded Gattuso.
