Valentino Rossi back on track: American challenge for the 'Doctor'

There will also be Valentino Rossi among the participants in the Indianapolis 8 Hours, the last race of the season of the’Intercontinental GT Challenge 2025: the ‘Dottore’ on the historic American temple of speed, aims to help BMW win the constructors’ championship, which is also contested by Porsche and Mercedes. The race will be run starting at 8:20 p.m. Italian time on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Rossi will be one of three drivers that Team WRT will field in the No. 46 BMW M4 GT3 Evo, along with South African Kelvin van der Linde and Belgian Charles Weerts. The same team also brings a second car, the number 777 driven by Brazilian Augusto Farfus, Swiss Raffaele Marciello and Omani Al Faisal Al Zubair.
Between them, the nine-time MotoGP champion will be the only Italian representative in the Pro class, the main one. Only one other driver from the Bel Paese will take part in the Indianapolis 8 Hours, in the Am class: he is Stefano Gattuso, at the wheel of the Ford Mustang GT3 of the Dollahite Racing team, together with Scott Dollahite and Eric Powell, both Americans.
They will be the only Italian representative in the Pro class.
Valentino Rossi has participated in two of the previous four races of the 2025 Intercontinental GT Challenge: in Bathurst, Australia, he finished a brilliant second place (along with Marciello and Weerts) in the 12-hour race on the Mount Panorama circuit, while in Spa, in the 24-hour race at the end of June, he finished in eighth place along with Dane Kevin Magnussen and German René Rast.
