Empoli market, Alessio Dionisi is the new coach

It is official the return after four years on the Empoli bench of Alessio Dionisi, who had left Palermo yesterday. He takes the place of the exonerated Guido Pagliuca. Here is the statement published on its official website by the Tuscan club.

“Empoli Football Club is pleased to announce that it has entrusted the technical guidance of the first team to Alessio Dionisi. The coach has signed a contract until June 30, 2027, and will lead the first training session this afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Petroio Sports Center.”

“In addition to coach Dionisi, Luca Vigiani, in the role of assistant coach, Paolo Cozzi as technical collaborator and Fabio Spighi as athletic trainer will also be part of the technical staff of the Azzurri first team.”

“Born in Abbadia San Salvatore (Siena) on April 1, 1980, Alessio Dionisi embarked on his coaching career in 2014, leading Olginatese. He later sat on the benches of Borgosesia and Fiorenzuola.”

“In the summer of 2018 he arrived at Imolese, in Serie C, with which he won third place in the league and the playoff semifinals. The following season he leads Venezia in Serie B, finishing in 11th place.”

“In 2020 he arrived at Empoli, leading the Azzurri to promotion to Serie A thanks to winning the championship with two days left in the regular season. At the end of that season, Dionisi was awarded the silver bench as the best coach in the cadet series.”

“In the next two years he was at the helm of Sassuolo in Serie A, hitting an 11th and 13th place. Last season he coached Palermo in Serie B.”
