Mauro Grassilli, sporting director of Ducati, spoke to Sky Sport microphones at Phillip Island, where Marc Marquez is absent and undergoing surgery after suffering a fracture at the base of the coracoid apophysis and a ligament injury in his right shoulder.

“We expected a similar situation, it had been communicated from the beginning – admitted the Borgo Panigale factory ds on the injury of the MotoGP 2025 world champion -. Unfortunately, it went worse than expected… We will evaluate how the rehabilitation will continue”.

However, Grassilli has one hope of seeing the Spanish phenomenon back on track before the end of the MotoGP season: “It is not impossible to see him in Valencia” where the last round of the premier class season is scheduled for November 14-16.

In the meantime, among the candidates to replace Marquez in the Portuguese GP is also Nicolò Bulega: “We are considering having him come with us to Portimao. There are some aspects to analyze well. For example, Nicolò does not know the bike and the tires well. So he would need a test. Superbike is not MotoGP”.
