Valentino Rossi thrilled after record-breaking triumph in Indianapolis

Historic triumph for Valentino Rossi at the Indianapolis 8 Hours, valid for the Intercontinental GT Challenge championship. The’former MotoGP centaur returned to win on the historic U.S. track 17 years after his MotoGP triumph in 2008, which came at the end of a battle with Nicky Hayden.
Valentino took great satisfaction behind the wheel of the Wrt team’s number 46 Bmw M4 GT3 Evo, along with teammates Charles Weerts and Kelvin van der Linde. In a race affected by rain, the No. 46 car chose the right strategy by anticipating its rivals at the pit stop. After taking the lead, the BMW trio didn’t let it go, then heavy rain forced the organizers to neutralize the times and close the event early.
The BMW trio prevailed over Maro Engel, Luca Stolz and Tom Kalender of Mercedes-GruppeM Racing and the other BMW trio of Al Faisal Al Zubair, Augusto Farfus and Raffaele Marciello.
Valentino Rossi commented happily on the new achievement: “We were also very lucky. To win here is special after having succeeded in MotoGP in 2008. In addition van der Linde became champion, I am happy to have contributed” are the words reported by Gazzetta dello Sport. The Doctor is the first rider to win at Indianapolis on both two and four wheels.
