Just hours before his debut in the Vienna ATP 500, the opponent for Lorenzo Musetti changes. The Carrarino, No. 4 in the seedings and No. 8 in the ATP rankings, was supposed to make his debut against Stefanos Tsitsipas, but the Greek, eliminated by Jannik Sinner at the Six Kings Slam, forfeited at the last.

Instead of the Roland Garros (2021) and Australian Open (2023) finalist, lucky loser Hamad Medjedovic, world number 67, who had been eliminated in two sets by Jacob Fearnley in the last round of the qualifying draw, entered the draw.

There is no precedent between the Serb and the Blue, who starts favored and needs points in the ATP Finals. Musetti, in fact, is trailed by Felix-Auger Aliassime who after his title at the Brussels ATP 250 is only 340 points behind the Carrarino in the ATP Race.

The Serb is in the ATP Finals.

At the”Erste Bank Open’ there are four other Azzurri on the draw: in addition to Jannik Sinner, who will debut against Daniel Altmaier, we also find Flavio Cobolli, opposing Tomas Machac, Matteo Berrettini, who will take on Alexei Popyrin, and Matteo Arnaldi, who has already qualified for the round of 16.
