A little more than two years after his first and, so far, only experience in Italy with the jersey of Treviso, Ike Iroegbu returns to Serie A and does so with Varese Basketball: the white-and-red club has in fact made official the signing of the American basketball player with Nigerian citizenship, a point guard class of 1995 of 188 centimeters for 90 kilograms.

“We are happy to welcome Iroegbu to Varese, a player who in his career has played at high levels in the top leagues in Europe, including Italy’explained Maksim Horowitz, general manager of Varese Basketball.

We decided to add additional depth after a careful evaluation of the team during the preseason and the first three days of the championship”.

“With Ike, we aim to increase our competitiveness under the leadership of coach Kastritis, while maintaining the spirit and heart of someone who is always ready to give battle” added the white-and-white executive. Iroegbu had started the season in Valencia, also winning the Spanish Super Cup in last September 28’s final against Real Madrid.

Born in Elk Grove, in the Sacramento district of California, Ike Iroegbu grew up basketball-wise at Washington State before embarking on a professional career in the uniforms of Agua Caliente Clippers (now San Diego Clippers), Science City Jena, Lietkabelis, Capital City Go-Go, Rasta Vechta, Rouen, Elan Chalon, Hapoel Galil Elyon, Treviso, Girona, and Valencia, before Varese.
