Premier League 2025-2026: Newcastle-Fulham, the likely lineups

An all-Black and White challenge at St. James’ Park: host Newcastle faces Fulham at 4 p.m. Italian time on Saturday, two teams that have started the season with some more uncertainty than expected. The Magpies are in fact 15th in the standings with 9 points, one more than the Cottagers, their immediate pursuers.

The recent 3-0 infliction on Benfica in the Champions League, however, seems to have refreshed Eddie Howe and his men: in the starting 4-3-3 there should be room for Tonali, now close to renewal with the Tyneside club, while in attack they are still relying on the effectiveness of Woltemade, Barnes and Gordon, whose understanding seems to be improving from game to game.

On the other side Fulham, coached by Marco Silva, is coming off three consecutive league knockouts against Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Arsenal: for the last win in the Premiership we have to go back as far as Sept. 20, when goals by Iwobi and Wilson (joined by Pinnock’s own goal) were decisive in overcoming Brentford at home. Iwobi will be in the starting eleven, while Wilson is expected to be kept rested due to an injury.

Probable lineups

NEWCASTLE (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Barnes, Woltemade, Gordon. All. Howe.

FULHAM (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Cuenca, Bassey, Sessegnon; Berge, Lukic; Traore, King, Iwobi; Jimenez. All. Marco Silva.
