Genoa market, Dan Sucu does not hide on Patrick Vieira and prepares the ground ahead of January

Despite being in last place in the standings with three points won (the result of as many draws) in eight league games, Patrick Vieira remains Genoa’s coach. This was made clear by the patron of the Rossoblù club, Romanian businessman Dan Sucu, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the club’s shareholders meeting, in the aftermath of the defeat at home to Torino (2-1 to the granata).
“We have only one plan and this plan involves as coach Patrick Vieira – said Sucu, trying to clear the field from the rumors of exoneration -. I have the utmost confidence in the team, I reiterated it again today. We will evaluate for January possible movements, should they be needed to improve, but I am convinced that we have all the potential to compete”.
Not only confidence in the coach, then, but also a foretaste, although without naming names, of what the club will be able to do in view of the winter market. For Sucu, the situation is not irretrievable: the Grifone patron reiterated, concluding his speech, that “Vieira is the right person to get to the goals we have set for ourselves”.
This season, Genoa has won only two official matches, both in the Coppa Italia: on Aug. 15 it defeated Vicenza 3-0 with goals by Valentin Carboni and Stanciu, interspersed by Benassai’s own goal, while on Sept. 25 it defeated Empoli 3-1 with Rossoblù goals by Frendrup, Marcandalli and Ekhator. In the league, on the other hand, came three draws against Lecce, Como and Parma and five defeats against Juventus, Bologna, Lazio, Napoli and Torino.
