Neymar’s future is still to be written but for his current club, Santos, it will still be tinged with the Peixe’s black and white colors: no transfer to Europe ahead of the 2026 World Cup, although the renewal issue is not yet definitively resolved: Santos president Marcelo Teixeira took stock of the situation interviewed by Brazilian newspaper ‘Lance’.

“Santos is first and foremost focused on the league – said Teixeira -, we are in continuous contact with Neymar’s dad, but as for the renewal we will talk at the appropriate time. Neymar will stay here, I do not foresee a return to Europe for him: he is here with a project that goes beyond this year, includes the World Cup and involves Santos”.

“Of course – then concluded the president of the Paulista club – we will take into account economic and sporting factors, but at the moment there is no news regarding the renewal”. Neymar returned to Santos, the club where he grew up footballing, at the end of January 2025, wearing the historic ’10’ that was Pelé’s: however, his contribution has not helped the Peixe to face a championship as a protagonist, so much so that with only a few days to go the club is struggling to avoid relegation.

In recent weeks the name had been mentioned, in particular, of two Italian clubs interested in Neymar’s possible landing, even as early as January: they are Inter Milan and Napoli, which would guarantee the 33-year-old a top-level competitive platform in Europe to try to convince Carlo Ancelotti to include him in the Seleçao squad for the 2026 World Cup. The rumors, however, have not been officially confirmed. At least for now.
