When Jannik Sinner plays in Paris: background with Zizou Bergs

Penultimate effort of 2025 for Jannik Sinner: the Italian tennis player is about to make his debut in the Paris Masters 1000, the last tournament before the ATP Finals in Turin that close the season. L’Azzurro has always had a troubled relationship with the year-end event in the French capital: in 2024 he forfeited before his debut, in 2023 he got into a controversy with the organization for playing at night and withdrew, and in 2022 he was eliminated right away in the first round when he was world No. 11.
The San Candido champion can’t wait to reverse this trend.
The Blue, fresh winner of the WTA 500 in Vienna, will make his debut against Belgium’s Zizou Bergs. The two have never faced each other in their careers: Bergs, 26, an indoor concrete specialist, currently occupies 41st place in the ATP rankings and is coming off his best year in his career with two ATP finals reached.
The match between the two is scheduled for Wednesday on center court, the Defense Arena, as the third match from 11 a.m.: it will therefore not start until 3 p.m. The match will be broadcast live by Sky Sports and Now.
Carlos Alcaraz will also be there but Sinner does not believe he will be back number one anytime soon: “Right now I’m not thinking about it because it’s impossible. But it will be what I will aim for in the next season. Right now I just want to end this year well and then use a crucial month like December to work and make changes”.
