L’former MotoGP centaur Marco Melandri has returned to talk about the events of the 2015 World Championship 10 years after the Sepang events and immediately raised a fuss on social media. At the microphones of RSI channel Domenica Sportiva, Melandri pointed his finger at Valentino Rossi, who was engaged in the bitter confrontation with Marc Marquez that culminated in the Malaysian GP.

“The story for many begins and ends in Malaysia. But the reality is that it starts from very far away –explained the rider from Ravenna -. In Argentina it was quite clear Valentino’s change of trajectory when he literally took the front off Marquez and it was not a great start to the season for their relationship. The same was true in Holland and then in Malaysia”.

“In Malaysia it no longer mattered who got to the front but only who showed the most muscle. Valentino two, three times slowed down, looked at Marquez who in his career has never looked back during a race. He, who is the icon of MotoGP all over the world, in my opinion such a gesture should not have done it. It was 100 percent intentional”.

“It is a pity because there they managed to make him out to be a victim when in my opinion he was guilty – attacked Melandri -. Now the problem is that those who run MotoGP need to make Marquez likeable but they made him dislikeable him so much ten years ago that it is no longer easy”.
