Important win for Cantù against Cremona

Aqua S.Bernardo Cantù finds a crucial victory in front of the PalaDesio crowd. The biancoblù take the direct clash with Vanoli Cremona thanks to the final 91-83.

Cantù starts strong with Bortolani and Gilyard, but Cremona stays glued thanks to Veronesi. The guests put their heads forward with Willis, but Ballo immediately equalizes. Vanoli hits back-to-back three-pointers and gains a three-possession lead. Bowden and Basile bring Cantù back in touch. In the final minute, Acqua S.Bernardo gets close again and closes down 23-24 the first ten minutes.

Cremona maintains the lead, but the white and blue remain in the slipstream. Moraschini forces coach Brotto to stop the game, but a triple by Burns pushes Cantù away. After a long Canturino chase, Basile signs the tie with a dunk. Willis brings the guests back ahead, however, Acqua S.Bernardo manages to make the overtake with a triple by Gilyard. The white-and-blue thus go to halftime on 47-44.

The second half opens with a surging Vanoli, able to get back in front in the score. Durham gets on a roll and Cremona flies to +6. Sneed shakes Cantù, which regains the reins of the match and takes the lead again. Casarin scores the new parity, but Ballo retaliates on the opposite side. Ajayi and Moraschini consolidate the Canturino lead at 69-62.

Cremona doesn’t mind and gets back to within one possession. Sneed scores a heavy triple, however, Vanoli stays in the game and, with four minutes to go to the buzzer, has as many points to make up. De Nicolao scores a triple and Ndiaye responds in kind. Sneed finds a three-point play, Cremona takes the blow, and the White and Blue run away, with Moraschini tucking in the +10 triple. Vanoli does not give up until the buzzer, but there is no more time to recover. It ends 91-83.
