Jonathan Milan wins the Singapore Criterium

Tour de France green jersey winner Jonathan Milan overcame difficult wet conditions and won the Singapore Criterium of the Tour de France with a spectacular final sprint. On a circuit affected by a heavy pre-race storm, Milan beat Eritrean Biniam Girmay and Belgian Jasper Philipsen.
“It is really special to be here for the first time and to bring home a good result – Milan–s words; I have to say that I did not expect this weather. The last two days have been pretty hot, but today for the first hour of the race it rained a lot and that can sometimes affect the race. But the road was pretty good and it was clean and I was able to ride well”.
Ben Healy attempted a breakaway at the start of the last lap of the 60-kilometer race, but the Irishman was caught up by the peloton with 700 meters to go with Milan well positioned at the front of the peloton.
“The team did a really good job” said Milan referring to his Lidl-Trek teammates. “We had few attacks and with the’last one they closed the gap and positioned me for the sprint perfectly”.
