Juventus market, Diego Simeone gets in the way of a target

Juventus has identified Lautaro Rivero as an ideal reinforcement for the defensive department and is following him closely as part of its renewal strategy, focusing on young and reliable profiles. However, competition is fierce: Atletico Madrid has also set its sights on the Argentine central, considering him a priority for the next market window.
Rivero, 22, has excelled in performance and personality at River Plate, earning the interest of top European clubs. In Madrid, his profile is seen as perfect for the tactical project of Diego Simeone, who prefers players with character and room for growth. Atletico wants to invest in youngsters who can establish themselves over time, and Rivero fits exactly into this vision. The club is ready to move decisively, despite the fact that the negotiation promises to be complicated.
Tottenham Hotspur and other British clubs are also monitoring the situation, attracted by the defender’s qualities and his recent international performances. The Premier League represents a financially advantageous option for the player, but Atlético is counting on the strength of its technical project and Simeone’s influence to tip the scales in its favor.
The player’s chances of winning the Premier League title are also high.
Meanwhile, Juventus, buoyed by positive reports from international scouting, appears to have intensified contacts in recent weeks. Rivero, who turned 22 on Nov. 1, recently made his debut with the Argentine national team, confirming his growth.
Originally from Moreno in the province of Buenos Aires, Rivero grew up in the youth ranks of River Plate, but established himself at Central Córdoba in Santiago del Estero, where he became a starter and won the Argentine Cup in 2024.
Marcelo Gallardo pushed to bring him back to River, where he established himself as a regular starter thanks to his maturity, defensive vision, and ability to set up the action.
