World No. 6 Russian-Kazakh Elena Rybakina beat in the last match of the elimination round of the WTA Finals in Riyadh with a double 6-4 victory over Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, who took over for the US player Madison Keys, who, after losing the first two games of the grouping against Poland’s Iga Swiatek and the US player Amanda Anisimova, forfeited for the last one.

It is Rybakina who saves the first break point in the second game of the match, then two more in the sixth game, however, in the end the decisive break to win the first set is made by her at 4-4 and then she closes by holding serve at zero.

More eventful the second set: Elena breaks at 1-1 and then breaks again at 4-2. At 5-2 Alexandrova recovers one, then holds serve and when Rybakina serves for the second time for the match she has two more break points. But the 2022 Wimbledon champion cancels them and then wins the match after an hour and 13 minutes of play.

Rybakina thus takes the first place in the group dedicated to Serena Williams with full points and now in the semifinals she will face the second of the other grouping, the one dedicated to Steffi Graf and in which Jasmine Paolini is unfortunately already out of the game.
