Elia Viviani ponders strong reaction to General Roberto Vannacci’s tweet

During an interview with Bicisport Elia Viviani held to disassociate himself from the content of General Roberto Vannacci’s famous tweet, returning to the exultation in Santiago, Chile. “Those who know me and know cycling know very well the meaning of that gesture, and there is no need even to explain it”, he said.

“As for that tweet I will evaluate whether I should move in the next few days, since I have just returned from vacation” he then added, confirming that he is considering an even stronger reaction.

After his victory in the elimination at the track world championships held in South America, the Rio 2016 Olympic champion exulted by mimicking an X with his arms, a gesture indicating that his splendid career had come to an end.

The League’s deputy secretary general, who is always active on social media, qualified the gesture as a reference to the Tenth Flotilla Mas, and posted a tweet obviously greeted with jubilation by his followers: “Another tithing for Italy,” it read there! Elia Viviani, world champion in track cycling, thus celebrates the title”.
