Urania Milano has taken a clear stance strongly condemning the racist comments against its player Ursulo D’Almeida, who with other basketball players of the red and blue lineup had participated in recent days in a communication and environmental awareness campaign promoted by the club itself and CIAL, the National Consortium of Aluminum Packaging.

“Urania Basket Milano and CIAL (Consorzio Nazionale Imballaggi Alluminio – National Consortium of Aluminum Packaging) strongly express their firm condemnation of the racist and offensive comments addressed to the player Ursulo D’Almeida following the recent communication campaign published on CIAL–s social channels, reads the joint note published on Monday. Such behaviors represent a cowardly and unacceptable act, contrary not only to the values of sports, but also to the fundamental values of respect, equality and civility that should guide every community, on and off the field”.

“Urania Basket Milano and CIAL are united in reiterating that there is no justification for racism in any form. We are proud of Ursulo, an exemplary athlete and person, who best represents the Wildcats spirit of commitment, passion and mutual respect” say again the two entities involved in the initiative.

“Every word of hate is a step backward for everyone. Therefore, we ask anyone who loves sports and civil coexistence to join us in strongly rejecting these disgusting and unworthy attitudes, reaffirming the value of inclusion and diversity as a common heritage” conclude Urania Milano and CIAL in the note.
