Asvel challenges Olimpia Milano but goes to court against Euroleague

L’Asvel, last in the Euroleague standings, is preparing to face Olimpia Milano. At stake, however, there’s more than victory. The French club, at the moment, is at the center of a real dispute with the Euroleague itself.
The reason? Tony Parker, Asvel’s number one, explained it very well: “The’Euroleague has publicly sanctioned us for spending 4.4 million euros in salaries, while the minimum is 5.85 million euros. However, the regulations of the French National Basketball League (LNB) prevent us from spending more. We are under financial control. In short, they ask us not to comply with the French basketball law. It is out of the question for us to break the rules established by our national league, with which we maintain very good relations”, his words to Le Progres.
The’former NBA star, president of the French club also made it known that there is no intention to get back on track as demanded by the’Euroleague but there is a strong will to go to court: “Are we going to pay? No, and we will go to court. The question I ask myself is: why this year, when all of our contracts with the Euroleague expire at 2026’”.
.
L’Asvel now seems determined to put the Euroleague behind them and open up to the new NBA Europe. To be understood what will end the relationship with the’Euroleague.
