NBA All Star Game 2026: everything changes, new format to relaunch it

Now it is official. The’All Star Game changes face and format. The NBA has decided to revive the star-studded competition that, in recent seasons, has lost so much appeal, despite the presence of the best players in the entire NBA.

There will always be 24 All Stars selected and, as always, the “convocations” will be the result of fan preferences, which count for 50 percent, the players themselves (25 percent) and selected media (remaining 25 percent).

The important thing is that there must be at least eight players of non-U.S. nationality. Why? Simple, because the new NBA All Star Game 2026, scheduled for February 25 in Los Angeles, will be a challenge between the United States and the Rest of the World.

Specifically, the format will feature three teams, two with stars and stripes and one with players from the rest of the world. Each will consist of eight players. The three teams will compete in a triangular match with matches lasting 12′ each. At the end of the triangular, the best two (by number of wins or, in the case of a tie, by basket difference), will play for the finals. One way to make the All Star Game more competitive and, hopefully, fun.
