World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz cleanly beats No. 9, Lorenzo Musetti, 6-4 6-1 in the last match of the elimination round named after Jimmy Connors of the ATP Finals in Turin.

No break and no break point until 5-4 for the Spaniard, who has a first set point on Musetti’s serve but misses it by misjudging a forehand pass and then instead on the second it is Lorenzo who sends his forehand into the corridor.

The second set had no history: from 1-1 Alcaraz strung together five consecutive games and the only thrills came when he had to cancel two break points at 3-1 and when he had the first two match points cancelled, but then with a first-set winner he closed the file after an hour and 23 minutes of play.

Alcaraz thus qualifies with full points for the semifinals of the last tournament of the year on the indoor concrete of the Inalpi Arena, but more importantly he mathematically closes 2025 at the first place in the world ranking.

Nothing to do instead for Musetti against a very tough opponent, particularly for him, who has lost there 8 times out of 9. The other semifinalist in the round is Alex De Minaur, who will take on Jannik Sinner.
