Inter market, new option for the'attack: possible blow as early as January

The performance of one of Serie A’s newest names, Hellas Verona’s Brazilian striker Giovane Santana do Nascimento, known simply as Giovane, has not gone unnoticed in these early months of the season. The former Corinthians man, after a period of adaptation to Italian soccer, scored for the first time on Nov. 2 against Inter and it is the Nerazzurri club that has begun sounding out the market.
The Nerazzurri club, which has had to do without Marcus Thuram for more than a month, could consider making a bid for Giovane as early as January, so as to offer an extra alternative to Cristian Chivu for the attack in case of subsequent emergencies, given the Nerazzurri’s quadruple commitment between the league, Champions League, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa.
The market value of Giovane is around 4 million euros, but given the good start to the season Hellas Verona could ask for a higher figure, also to compensate for the loss at the squad level and intervene in the market in turn. Feasibility in January depends mainly on the figures but postponing the bid until the summer could result in Inter facing a bidding war with other Italian and European clubs.
Young, so far, has played as a starter in almost all of Hellas Verona’s matches, subbing in only in the Coppa Italia match lost to Venezia on penalties last Sept. 24. From a scoring point of view, the one at Inter is so far his only goal in Serie A, but the Brazilian has been effective in the assist area, with three decisive passes in total.
