Important step toward the 2026 World Cup for Switzerland, which in Saturday night’s big match against Sweden handed the Scandinavians a 4-1 victory, but still not enough to arithmetically celebrate qualification. Credit to Kosovo, theoretically still able to join the Swiss in the standings after the sensational 2-0 collected in the away match in Slovenia.

Many players known to Italian Serie A fans decided the day’s challenges ahead of the European World Cup qualifiers. Switzerland’s 4-1 win in fact saw Embolo unlock the score on 12′, before the equalizer signed by Nygren on 33′. In the second half Xhaka scored on a penalty kick at 60′, then former Bologna man Ndoye scored at 75′ and Manzambi as time expired. Kosovo victorious in Slovenia thanks to Asllani on 6′ and Karnicnik’s own goal on 64′.

Holiday postponed for Denmark and Scotland, whose qualification will be decided in the final group clash. The Scandinavians do not go beyond a 2-2 draw at home against Belarus (former Sampdoria player Damsgaard also scored), the Britons even suffer a 3-2 defeat by already eliminated Greece. Breathing Bosnia, which also thanks to Edin Dzeko beats Romania 3-1. Impossible for Turkey, despite a 2-0 win over Bulgaria in the sign of Hakan Calhanoglu, to reach the goal difference of Spain, which may theoretically hang on 15 points.
