Spain, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and, above all, Scotland are the big players in Tuesday night&#8217s World Cup 2026 qualifier for Europe. In fact, it is these five national teams that are the ones to detach the ticket for the competition, in an evening that also clarifies the final picture of the play-offs (in which Italy will also take part, as known).

For Belgium, the goleada against Liechtenstein was decisive, a 7-0 victory that also saw a number of Serie A stars enter the scorers’ table. They are Saelemaekers and De Ketelaere: for the latter comes the double. Spain, on the other hand, only needed a 2-2 draw in Seville against Turkey, capped by Oyarzabal after Gul and Ozcan had answered Dani Olmo’s lead.

Switzerland, like Spain, celebrated thanks to a draw: the 1-1 draw on the field of the increasingly surprising Kosovo. Same result for Austria, which draws at home with Bosnia thanks to Gregoritsch after Tabakovic’s lead. Unbelievable 4-2 in Glasgow, with Scotland managing to prevail over Denmark (Rasmus Hojlund also in goal on a penalty kick) thanks in part to an’incredible reverse by Scott McTominay and a feat by McLean with a shot from midfield as time expired.
