The return from the break gave more doubts than certainties to Cristian Chivu’s Inter: after the derby lost on Sunday against AC Milan, the Nerazzurri also stumbled in the Champions League, losing at home to Atletico Madrid 2-1, with the Colchoneros’ goal-victory scored by Jose Maria Gimenez at 93′.

A bitter denouement for the Nerazzurri evening in Madrid, which led to an immediate confrontation between players, technical staff and managers following the team to the locker room. The impromptu meeting ‘anti-crisis’ lasted several minutes and involved, among others, the Nerazzurri CEO, Beppe Marotta.

The coach Cristian Chivu then spoke about what happened to the microphones of Prime Video: “I smoked three cigarettes one after the other, I said what I had to say to my players. The regret is strong, in this game and Sunday’s game we played well but in the end came two defeats”.

“What can we do to come out of this? In soccer, as in life, the wheel turns and it can do so all of a sudden’Inter coach continued.&#8217 We will analyze what happened today by reviewing the game but, from what I saw from the field, I think we should have handled the restarts in a better way. We should, then, have avoided that corner kick that led to the goal”.
