Filippo Ganna reunites with an old friend in the flagship race

An’important news at Ineos Grenadiers was announced in Friday’s giornaat: in fact, the British team made official the ’entry in the “Performance team” of Elia Viviani and Daryl Impey, as sports directors, starting from the 2026 season. This is also significant news for the Italian riders of Ineos, above all the national time trial champion Filippo Ganna, who will thus find his friend and former colleague Viviani in the flagship team again.

“I am thrilled to return to the team that has always represented a second home for me – said Viviani on the sidelines of the official presentation – first as a rider and now as a staff member. I want to give my all to support the riders and share everything I have learned throughout my career”.

“The team is entering a new era and I am happy to be part of this challenge” added the Veronese former sprinter and pistard, who raced the 2022, 2023, and 2024 seasons in an Ineos uniform, winning a stage at the Tour de la Provence 2022, two at the Tour of Croatia (one in 2022, the other the following year), and one at the Tour of Guangxi in 2023.

Viviani, in his three years at Ineos, was a teammate of Filippo Ganna, a rider with whom he also shared experience in the Azzurri jersey on road and track. The two could also find themselves in the blue environment, as Viviani has been named, in recent days, as the new team manager of the national road and track cycling teams.
