Daniil Medvedev returned to talk about the two champions who are monopolizing the circuit, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, in an interview with the Championnat portal. According to the Moscow star, both the San Candido tennis player and the Murcia athlete will manage to hit the Career Grand Slam without any problems during their careers. Alcaraz has already won all the Slams apart from the’Australian Open, while the Azure is missing Roland Garros. “They play at an unbelievable level: you have to consider that Sinner had three match points at Roland Garros, so he could have already gotten it. And both are still young”.

“There will be no shortage of opportunities, and I really believe they can get it. Life is sometimes unpredictable, but I really think that sooner or later they will win the Career Slam”. The Russian tennis player is catching his breath after a very long season: “I have already started working a little again’ but it was nice to spend time with the family. During the season these moments are few. I rested and started again, now I am mostly focused on physical preparation”. Medvedev slipped out of the top 10 in the world rankings, but he has regained his tennis in the last few tournaments in Asia.

“There was a moment when I thought, ‘I am already 29 years old … maybe I can’t do this anymore. Maybe I will never play like I used to.’ At the US Open I felt terrible inside, I experienced one of the most difficult moments in the last years of my career”. The knockout with Bonzi, however, gave him the strength to react: “Even before Beijing and Shanghai things were changing: I started hitting the ball so well again in practice that I felt I could only lose to Sinner and Alcaraz”. The’farewell to Gilles Cervara: “I think I had been thinking about it for a while’ unconsciously. We are happy with what we have done together and we will always love each other, but I realized after New York that I should try something different”.

Medvedev thus singled out Thomas Johansson and Rohan Groetzke:”The way they see my game often coincides with my vision. My game took me to number 1 in the world, so it works, but there are small details that we can improve, clean up or add something”.
