Inter suffers and then exults in Pisa thanks to Lautaro Martinez

L’Inter returned to victory in Pisa: after two consecutive knockouts against AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, the Nerazzurri redeemed themselves by overcoming the Tuscans on the road thanks to a Lautaro Martinez double in the match valid for the 13th day of Serie A. The success allows Chivu’s team to climb to 27 points in the standings, one length behind AC Milan. Gilardino’s men fall at home after two and a half months and remain third-last in the standings.
Inter struggles and is lackluster in a blocked first half. Chivu’s team tries to play the game but finds itself in front of a well-positioned Pisa that with intensity blocks all spaces, trying to hurt then on the restart. The Biscione thus managed to make themselves dangerous only on a spot kick around the half-hour mark, when Calhanoglu drew Lautaro Martinez into the box, whose header sent wide by a whisker. The Tuscans also created a couple of chances with TourĂ© and Piccinini, but lacked precision.
Chivu’s men also suffered in the second half, in the beginning the hosts collected chances with Meister and Piccinini, and devoured a goal ball with Nzola. The Romanian coach decided to shake things up by taking off Thuram, Acerbi and Luis Henrique for Pio Esposito, Bisseck and Diouf, a few minutes passed and Inter took the lead: at 69′ Pisa badly lost the ball in a dangerous area of the field, the newly entered Esposito found Lautaro Martinez in the box who scored powerfully to make it 1-0.
Gilardino’s team reacted and was dangerous with Nzola’s header, but Inter closed out the match at the 83’83’: Barella’s cross and Lautaro Martinez’s tap-in made it 2-0 and a personal double. Pisa faltered in the final and Pio Esposito came close to scoring his third.
