Antonio Conte did not only talk about the victory achieved against Roma in the press conference: “The week off? In England it is usual, I was in agreement with the club and from now on I will always do it because I have a very good staff. It needs a breath of fresh air for me and my family given all the pressure. Coming to Roma and doing it with authority and personality like we did, defending by running forward, was not easy. Roma was coming from great results and is a very good team, besides the fact that they were ahead of us. I am very happy with the way we played. That said, we are living a very difficult time because of the unavailability of so many players and this period will last for a while yet’. I hope that nothing happens to the players who are there, otherwise we will still go into difficulty”.

“In the defections the team responded great, we had to change the system of play going back to the’beginning because of a question of numbers of midfielders, because we have only Lobotka and McTominay, behind the two of them we have Elmas who is a bit’ a wild card, and Vergara, who is a promising kid from the nursery and he will have to play, because I need to have an extra’option. The group is showing great enthusiasm, desire and a determination that we must never lose because it led us last year to win the scudetto. We want to try to defend it hoping there are no more defections”.

Conte finally immediately commented on Aurelio De Laurentiis’s tweet (who, on X, commented as follows: “Great victory of a group led by a true leader”): “I am very happy for the boys because it is a helmet moment, to keep us with this standard is something incredible. We have to know that for quite a while’we should make a virtue out of necessity. Beating Atalanta, which is a strong team, the Qarabag, which is the revelation of the Champions and coming to win in Rome is very positive. It’s a message for us: if we want, we can”, concluded the coach of the Azzurri, who are back at the top of the standings in cohabitation with AC Milan and with a one-point margin over Roma and Inter (pending Bologna-Cremonese on Monday night).
