Pino Sacripanti new head coach of Pistoia
Pistoia has made official the arrival as head coach of Pino Sacripanti, the Estra has reached an agreement with the coach until the end of the season, in which the team plays in Serie A2 after being relegated there in the last championship, currently has a score of 6 wins and 9 losses. Sacripanti replaces the exonerated Tommaso Della Rosa. Here is the text of the statement.
“Pistoia Basket 2000 Ssd Arl announces that it has reached an agreement, lasting until June 30, 2026, with Stefano Sacripanti, who will fill the role of head coach. Born in Cantù on May 15, 1970, and better known as “Pino,” his coaching career began in his hometown starting in the youth sector and, since 1998, with the first team covering the role of deputy and then of head coach arriving, in 2002, to the Scudetto playoff semifinals and winning the title of best coach of the year in Serie A. His relationship with Cantù would continue until 2007, winning an Italian Cup final and winning the Italian Supercup in 2003/04.”
“For two seasons he led Vuelle Pesaro conquering, on one occasion, playoffs and Final Eight of the Italian Cup while in 2009 he moved to Juve Caserta where he stayed for four championships reaching the Scudetto semifinals and earning access for the Euroleague. In the summer of 2013, he returned to Cantù for two more championships to, then, embark on the three-year period in Avellino where he achieved other outstanding results: finalist in the Italian Cup, semifinalist in the playoffs scudetto, finalist in the Supercup and participation in the Basketball Champions League”.
“After a parenthesis with Virtus Bologna, he restarted from Serie A2 with Napoli Basket with which he managed to win the LNP Italian Cup and promotion to Serie A, overcoming in the quarterfinals playoffs precisely Pistoia Basket, remaining on the Neapolitan bench until March 2022 while the last two experiences were in Scafati and Pesaro, also in A2. Contextually, from 2006 to 2016 he was coach of the Under20 National Team with which he climbed three times on the European podium in 2007, 2011 and 2013 while, from 2016 to 2017, he served as vice-coach of the senior national team alongside Ettore Messina.”
