A historical club the Pallacanestro Cantù, from a few years griffata Acqua S.Bernardo

… among them four Cup Winners’ Cups and four Korac Cups
In 2021, at the end of a tribulated and unfortunate season, it was relegated to the A2 series…
… a complex and competitive league, with so many noble lapses and from which it is difficult to rise again
This time President Roberto Allievi's team made it…
…at its helm a returning horse, Nicola Brienza
Blue white team star Grant Basile…
… a powerful and soft-handed center…
… capable of hurting opponents even from long distance and here with Joonas Riismaa, an Estonian of Italian training
Basile’s move to 'Italian' status allowed the club to sign another foreigner, Dustin Hogue
Great the talent of Tyrus McGee, the'other foreigner, already champion d'Italia with Reyer Venezia

“In the week off, we had a chance to rest and work a lot to try to improve – Cantù coach Nicola Brienza said in a press conference. Now we start off strong again right away: we’re going to play Venice, one of the teams that surprised me not so much in terms of results, but in the quality of play. It is expressing important basketball, which sees it excel in almost all team statistics. It is clear that there is a great job by Coach Spahija and a lot of quality on the roster.”

“It will be an extremely complicated game, but for us to play against one of the strongest teams in the league must be an incentive. Our first goal must be to make the game as dirty as possible, trying not to make them run and, with many small things, try to lower their numbers and thus create the conditions to compete until the end,” Brienza continued.

Reyer is chasing the top pair formed by Brescia and Bologna by just two lengths, on the strength of the best offense in the league and third place in both rebounding and assists. The Neven Spahija-coached lineup relies on a pair of American combo-guards consisting of RJ Cole and Ky Bowman, capable of maintaining averages of 16.1 and 11.6 points, respectively, plus 4.2 and 3 assists.

Adding physicality are the two wings, Jordan Parks and Kyle Wiltjer, both averaging in double figures in scoring, and center Chris Horton, whose per-game haul is 7.8 points and 5.6 rebounds. They are joined by a luxury sixth man in guard Denzel Valentine, who embellishes the rotations of a team built to be competitive in the EuroCup as well.

In the group of Italians shines Amedeo Tessitori, protagonist in the recent National Team challenges and author of 8.2 points per game in this first phase of the championship. A former Canturino player like Stefan Nikolic, capable of scoring 7 points per game on average, is also making an excellent impact. Completing the Veneto’s rotation are point guard Giovanni De Nicolao, guard Leonardo Candi, forward Carl Wheatle and long forward Alessandro Lever.
