Monza privateer in Modena in the only match scheduled on Boxing Day for Serie B. The Brianzoli managed to impose themselves 2-1 in a comeback, responding with Azzi and Ravanelli in the second half to the lead signed on a penalty kick by Gliozzi for the hosts. The success on Emilian soil projects Paolo Bianco’s team to 37 points, the same as the leading Frosinone.

Monza immediately proactive already in the first minutes of the match, when the great former Paulo Azzi is the one to try. Then, however, Modena grows: Thiam saves everything on Zanimacchia, then bars Massolin’s goal. The result changed in the 40′: the Var judged Izzo’s disturbance in the box on Gliozzi, who then took charge of the shot from the penalty spot, putting the hosts ahead.

Even Zampano came close to doubling the score before even halftime, and early in the second half Thiam instead saved Monza on Sersanti&#8217s initiative. The guests, however, are good at shaking themselves off and manage to equalize in the 50′: Azzi takes care of that, depositing in the net the ball given to him by Mota on Birindelli’s cross from the right. It was enough to unleash the Brianza formation, which first came close to taking the lead with Keita and then found it at 65′ thanks to Ravanelli’s framing on a corner beaten by Keita. A goal to which, this time, Modena failed to react.

Monza thus tops the Serie B standings, in cohabitation with Frosinone awaiting the away match in Empoli. However, eyes are also on third place, currently occupied by Venezia, which by beating Virtus Entella in Sant’Elena could move back to -2 from the biancorossi. On the other hand, Modena is slowing down, which still remains sixth and in the playoff zone, but misses out on hooking right on the third place of the lagoon players.
