Among Juventus&#8217s most in-form players is undoubtedly Manuel Locatelli: the 1998-class champion is dominating in the Bianconeri midfield and in the last Champions League match against Benfica he was honored with a standing ovation by the many Bianconeri fans present at the Allianz Stadium. Luciano Spalletti substituted Locatelli at minute 87 (Teun Koopmeiners entered in his place) and the champion reciprocated the applause of the whole stadium with a hand gesture to symbolize his love for the Bianconeri colors.

The excellent performance of Manuel Locatelli has convinced Juventus (and especially Luciano Spalletti) to revise their market strategies: until a few weeks ago there was talk of a possible transfer of the former AC Milan player to Saudi Arabia or England. It seems that Spalletti was not satisfied with the player and had asked the management for the purchase of a player with all’other characteristics, which is why there had been talk of the Davide Frattesi option from Inter, a hypothesis that has now definitely faded.

The player is now a player with a different personality.

Now things have changed: Manuel Locatelli has convinced everyone and will not leave Turin. After the challenge against Benfica the champion was visibly emotional: “Sometimes I had to put my face on it, but this is normal that the captain has to take these responsibilities – he told Prime microphones -. Finally a good win in the Champions League in front of our fans, we played well and we are really happy. Difficulties in the first half? In the second half we started to be more in the game, we were watching ourselves, we had to stay calm because we should not take goals. They in the first half were closed, we forced plays and facilitated their counterattacks”.

Locatelli got even more excited when he commented on the standing ovation of the Juventus fans: “Standing ovation? I’m glad, over the years I’ve had difficult moments. But I put my face, my heart into it: it is beautiful to receive this from the audience of the team I love. When the coach arrived we talked immediately and I reiterated to him my total availability”.

Grown up in the AC Milan youth academy, Manuel Locatelli started playing for the Rossoneri first team in 2016. That same year, when Vincenzo Montella was on the Diavolo bench, the midfielder scored a splendid goal precisely against Juventus, the club to which he moved after his experience at Sassuolo (2018-2021).
