Five years have passed since the passing of Fausto Gresini. On the sad anniversary, his son Lorenzo remembered his father with a touching message that he divulged on his social media. “Here we are. January 23, 2026 – he wrote -. Another year has passed and even today there is nothing to celebrate, because you are not here… But I remembered that a few days ago I had watched a video and had taken notes on the concept of lack… I am bringing it back to you”.

“But yes, that I miss you, of course. But I must say, though, that I have also learned more about lack over the years. You, for example, are no longer here, I can no longer see you, it is true… But you remain in the breath I take: I take a breath of air and breathe you in fully. There is no breath I take in which you are not there. The lack no longer has a voice, it yields timbre”.

… Fausto was an equally great manager

“I once saw you greeting me through a car license plate. There is no longer a body in the lack, but footprints remain. The universe passes by and leaves your footprints. I think you and he have the same way of walking, the same shoe size. And there where you are gone, I continue to feel you”.

“I find it a beautiful way of thinking–a most beautiful way, because after all you are still our universe, in spite of everything. Best wishes, wherever you are, Bà!” concluded Lorenzo.

Fausto Gresini was born in Imola in 1961 and was a motorcycling ace, a protagonist both on the track and as a sports executive. An extremely talented rider, he won two world titles in the 125 class in 1985 and 1987, both riding a Garelli.

Active in competition from 1982 to 1994, he built his career almost entirely in the 125cc category, collecting 21 wins, 17 pole positions and 47 podium finishes. When his competitive activities ended, he started the Gresini Racing team, becoming a point of reference in the role of manager as well.
