A Milan did not go beyond a draw on the Roma pitch, even risking a loss to the Giallorossi. The result is that the standings now speak of a 5-point lead of the leader Inter over its cousins, with Massimiliano Allegri intent on clarifying his team’s goals. Which, in Serie A, remain firmly anchored to the conquest of one of the top four places and thus a return to the Champions League. In the background, however, it is undeniable that Scudetto ambitions remain.

“The moment is delicate, so let’s not think about Inter’s +5 – said Allegri in the press conference at the Olimpico in Rome -. Better to focus on one game at a time, also considering that in the last 9 we have played six away. The path is long, we can improve and our goal is to bring Milan back to the top four. Then it is right to have big ambitions, but right now our reality is one’s else. Now we need some calm, let&#8217s focus on what there&#8217s to do”.

A hint of disappointment remains for not winning a game that would have further launched Milan. Allegri, however, prefers not to see it that way: “Doing better would be important, but let us take this point won against a competitor. Especially since it allows us to gain one over Napoli. Also because in hindsight we are all good. In the first minutes Roma kept a great pace and pushed hard. We in the second half scored goals and controlled operations. Then, when it looked like things were looking up, came the penalty”.

The penalty, however, was the focus of Allegri’s attention in his post-match interview for ‘DAZN’. “An episode that can fit. Too bad, because we thought we could win it. In the second half they dropped, while we missed a lot perhaps also because of their excellent pressure”, explained the Milan coach.

Fronting the squad, however, Allegri praised the strikers currently available to Milan. “They are all four important players – he noted. They are all growing and doing better, then maybe with more nastiness Pulisic could have closed it down. But it is always like that, you think one thing and a different thing happens”.
