After probably taking a painkiller, Taylor Fritz began to play better but, even in the second set, eventually had to raise the white flag. In the ninth game, he gives up the break and the Azure also takes home the second set (7-5). Ahead two sets, Taylor Fritz begins to run out of steam. The Azure is on a roll and shows it again in the mentally dominated third set. At 5-4 he has three match points: the first is enough to fly to the quarterfinals for the first time in his career.

Now, on the fabulous Lorenzo Musetti&#8217s way is Nole Djokovic. The Serb comes to the challenge definitely rested, as he qualified for the quarterfinals without taking the court: Jakub Mensik had to withdraw before the match due to an abdominal injury.

Lorenzo Musetti’s goal at the start of the tournament was to make it at least to the second week. Now he has a real chance to snag a spot in the semifinals. The phenomenal Serbian, winner of 10 Slams in Melbourne but experiencing the downward parabola of his marvelous career, knows he will have to be perfect to duel on equal terms with the blue.
