Virtus Bologna responds to Germani Brescia and returns to the top of the Serie A Unipol standings with 28 points, paired right with the Lombardy team, thanks to the away win over Vanoli Basket Cremona in the postponement that closed the 17th day of the regular season. At PalaRadi it ends 74-84 with the bianconeri in total control from the beginning to the end: Morgan and Alston great protagonists with 19 and 18 points respectively, but Niang also gives his contribution, scoring 11 points.

“Tonight’s was not an easy game for us after last week’s two games in the Euroleague – stressed coach Dusko Ivanovic at the end of the game – so I have to congratulate my boys who found the energy they needed, as well as the concentration needed to win a tough game like this. The commitment was there throughout the match and especially in the first half, the moment when we found and built our lead. Today’s is a great victory”.

Francesco Ferrari, who arrived in Bologna in early January, signed his first points with the HCL jersey. “In our team it does not matter if you are old or young– explained the Montenegrin coach -: it only matters if you are a good player or not. He is a good player and that is why he plays”. A 204cm wing, the class of 2005 grew up in the youth sector of College Basketball Borgomanero before landing last season in Cividale, in the A2 Series championship. This year with the Friulian team he traveled to average 14 points and nearly 7 rebounds per game.

“It is important for us to have and grow young people with talent and who work well. Ours are good prospects because they are talented and in training they work hard and compete with more experienced players. I do not see big differences between young and experienced: if they continue like this these guys will get even more minutes” Ivanovic concluded.

Virtus Bologna will return to the court on Friday, Jan. 30, with Monaco at ‘Salle Gaston Medecin’ at 7:30 p.m. for the 25th day of the Euroleague, while on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m., they will host Dolomiti Energia Trentino at Virtus Segafredo Arena for the 18th day of the LBA.
