Alex Marquez&#8217s fourth season with Team Gresini could be the last for the vice world champion, whose contract expires at the end of 2026. According to rumors coming out of the paddock, the younger Marquez would be ready to leave Ducati for good to settle in an official team, probably KTM, to team up with Maverick ViƱales in place of Pedro Acosta, who is about to move right into the Borgo Panigale team.

On the sidelines of the Gresini team presentation, Marquez spoke about his ambitions: “I think it’s normal for a rider to aim to race in an official team. However, this is a job for my manager. Important rumors have come out in the last few days, but I am focused on starting the season and doing my job on the track”. Marquez wants to repeat after a great 2025: “I am motivated and a little bit excited as always. We have to be competitive from the start, without forgetting what our goal is”.

“We don&#8220t have to change too many things from last year’s. Especially the mentality, it must always be the same because it helped me achieve those results. But we also have to try to improve the weak points: we will try to be more complete in situations where we made mistakes last year”.

Alex Marquez will ride an official bike this season as Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia: “It gives me more confidence, now I have all the ingredients at my disposal to ‘cook’ and we have everything from Ducati to get the performance on the track. We will test the new parts that Borgo Panigale will bring in pre-season testing and see if we can make a stronger and stronger bike”.

Attention also to rivals: “Last year, at the end of the season, Aprilia and Ktm were very close. The other manufacturers took a step and riders like Bezzecchi and Acosta also grew. It will be an interesting year, the last one before the new rules. But I am confident that Ducati has made some steps this winter and that the bike is more competitive and complete”, Marquez told Sky.
